The Build
1979 Volvo 242 GL
Overview
Weighing in at 2,500 pounds, this 242 GL is a proper build and produces 350hp thanks to a dry-sump turbocharged inline-5 motor. It sports forged pistons and rods, and a more aggressive cam works with a big valved head to produce more power. A lightweight flywheel lets the motor spin up freely, and a limited-slip differential helps put the power down out of the corners. This build is our definition of a Swedish delight, and we would love to give it a go.
